JNPA floats EoI for construction of protection bund & land reclamation for Vadhvan project
Ahmedabad: In order to kick-start the construction of a greenfield container port at Vadhvan in Maharashtra, the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) has invited Expression of Interest (EoI) from investors and private developers asking them to participate in a ₹20,600 crore project meant to reclaim land for the port and construction of an offshore protection bund.

Godrej Industries Group sells 5% stake in Sobha for Rs 858 crore
Anamudi Real Estates, the family office entity of Godrej Industries Group, has sold 47.4 lakh shares or 5 per cent equity in Bengaluru-based realty company Sobha Ltd for around ₹858 crore through bulk deals on the BSE, exchange data showed. The shares were sold at Rs 1810.44 apiece, a discount of 2.8 per cent to the closing price of the company on Thursday. Sobha’s shares ended 3.8 per cent lower at ₹1792.35 on the BSE on Friday. Shares of Sobha have fallen 7.3 per cent since June, though they have appreciated 16 per cent from April 1.

Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor: 80-km section of Namo Bharat constructed, 2 km remain – Check latest updates here
The construction of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor has reached 80 kilometers of its total 82-kilometer length, officials announced on Thursday (July 25). This includes 68 kilometers of the 70-kilometer elevated section and 12 kilometers of the underground section. Currently, only a two-kilometer stretch in Meerut remains for viaduct construction, which is nearing completion.

Indian Railways: 68 projects worth over 92,000 crore underway in Uttar Pradesh, Ashwini Vaishnaw tells LS
The Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw revealed in a written reply to the Lok Sabha on Wednesday that 68 railway infrastructure projects are currently underway in Uttar Pradesh, at various stages of planning, approval, and construction as of April 1.
Indian Railways: 16 out of 102 Vande Bharat Express trains catering to needs of Maharashtra, says Ashwini Vaishnaw
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in a written response to the Lok Sabha on Thursday (July 25) informed that out of the 102 Vande Bharat trains operating across the country, 16 serve Maharashtra. “As on 19th July, 2024, 102 Vande Bharat Express services are operating on the Indian Railways network. Of these, 16 Vande Bharat Services are catering to the needs of the stations located in the State of Maharashtra,” Vaishnaw said.

Cochin Port unions seek fund allocation to meet dredging expenditure
Cochin Port Joint Trade Union Forum has requested the Centre to grant fund allocation to defray the full dredging expenditure both for capital as well as maintenance of the channel. CD Nandakumar, general convenor of the Forum cited an IPA committee report in this regard which recommended financial support to the port to meet the dredging expenditure. The committee noted that the annual maintenance dredging cost is much higher than the permissible level in terms of financial outgo and the port required dredging throughout the year to maintain a safe navigable channel. The quantity of silt to be removed was approximately 20 to 28 million cubic metre annually, he said.
